Guh. Fitness pet peeve.

Hey guys,
What's up? Sorry for the little MIA but something has been nipping and bugging me all day today that I had to quickly write out and get off my chest.

In the fitness industry, inevitably there will be people who are competitive. Who enjoy bragging about their achievements out aloud and want other people to notice and be praised. Honestly, I know because I was once like that but now I am more than happy to share my achievements because personally to myself, they were my own micro goals that I had wanted to achieve.
Although, quickly wanting to get to my point is the fact that, no matter how hard you have worked to achieve your current goal, there will always be that someone who will push you back down and make themselves feel more superior to you. I already dislike it when another female degrades another female. What the shit man. Women should have a supportive sisterhood, we should be praising and helping each other. But jealousy is a really stupid thing. And yes, I was once down that road but I would NEVER publicly humiliate or go out of my way to abuse someone and put them down. If you ain't got nothing nice to say, don't say it at all.
What is bothering me the most today is when a man degrades a woman. I'm not saying ALL men. I am in no way generalising them all to be like that, of course there are a select few. Like today's example was; my coach at school pointed out that I was a powerlifter. Surprise? I am sort of. I just lift heavy shit for the fun of it because I want to be able to test my own abilities. But, I am fully capable and proud of my very own abilities.

So, out of curiosity a classmate who happened to be interested in powerlifting approached me and asked me what my max for bench press, squats and deadlifts were. As you would, I guess? To which I happily answered because I am proud of my personal results. Instead of going "Holy shit, wow. That's amazing for a girl" he's response was rather "Oh, that's my warm up. I can do this much" and wherever he had felt threatened by my numbers, he had the audacity to go "BUT, do you wear a belt?"

What the fucking shit, mate.

I happily answered, yes because it was for safety precautions. No fucking shit I will wear a belt if I am carrying over DOUBLE my body weight on my fucking spine, pushing and pulling a hell of a lot more too. I am NOT going to risk fucking up my form and getting injured or permanently damaging my spine. I have always been careful and I absolutely take pride in looking after my body. So, it rather surprised me when he mentioned that he was out of lifting for a while because he had gotten injured. You only get injured from poor form or because you don't take proper precautions or because you're an ego lifter.
I apologise for such a public rant but it really hit me and bothered me HARD today. I'm currently studying to become a personal trainer and I understand that I need to be surrounded by supportive peers not to mention create a positive atmosphere so you can go out to spread and feed that happiness to other people. I just didn't appreciate the need for someone to tell me he was better than me because he could lift 20kg more than I can or he can pull more reps.

I guess the fact that I am a woman who can lift over 100% or even almost 200% of her own body weight slipped his mind. I'm not bragging (sorry if it sounds like that) no one else in the class is aware that I enjoy powerlifting for recreational purposes. I actually haven't told anyone aside from my coach that I lift. It didn't happen overnight either. I worked hard, each and every day for the past 6 months to purely strengthen myself and my body. I'm still growing and learning a shit load more. So, personally he had no right to judge or degrade me.
Phew. Okay. Rant is officially over. I have more happy news I will get to posting. I haven't updated my space for a long time in terms of my wedding but there is sooooo much I want to show you guys!!!

Inu x Boku SS

Lately, I've been returning back to the anime scene. Strange enough as it is, I'm even being naughty and reading loads of smut manga's too. Innocence does somewhat exist in my teeny weeny brain haha. But anyway, I couldn't help but binge watch Inu x Boku SS. Which essentially translates to "Dog x Me: Secret Service" or in simpler terms: "The dog and I: Secret Service"

I stumbled upon this series by chance. Can't even remember how. I read the wikipedia summary and that honestly did no justice. I couldn't even follow what was written that I was about to be repelled actually. But I thought, I'd give it and shot and honestly I have no regrets watching all twelve episodes in one night.
The Shirakiin house's daughter, Shirakiin Ririchiyo, who has a complex about being unable to live independently and unprotected, feels the need to move out and live on her own under the condition of residing in the mansion named "Ayakashi Kan." In this mansion, only those who have cleared a very strict examination could reside in it, and for each resident, they are accompanied with one agent of the Secret Service (S.S.). Although Riricho has rejected the company of the S.S., while residing in the mansion she finds out that the agent dedicated to protecting her is actually the Fox Spirit. MyAnimeList
Even that bio above doesn't give the anime any justice. But in all honestly, it's really light-hearted and fun anime to watch if you just want some little time-out or escape from everyday life. I absolutely enjoyed it and recommend it!
It's full of random humour and the characters each all become so ridiculously loveable. Like, there really is an array of characters, I guarantee that you will love each and every one of them! Even this guy...(honestly, it was one of the best and funniest scenes that I can't get over)
That aside, I absolutely adored watching Miketsukami (the male lead who is a demon fox) be such a gentleman. The fact that he is so honest and obsessed over Ririchiyo really made my heart throb. Their romance is too adorable and I don't want to bother ruining it for you if you plan to watch it.
If you're into romance, semi-pervertedness (openly admitting that, yas), supernatural with a dash of humour. Definitely watching this anime!

REVIEW: Hairburst

Hey all,
This will be a very lengthy review but here goes nothing!
So, I've been in a long debate about these hair vitamins. I'm sure you would have all heard about Hairburst (previously known as Hairvits). They're a company based in the UK that boasts about providing optimal health and growth vitamins for your hair. Being a typical girl that struggles for long luscious hair, I've been wanting to give these babies a go. Now, before you get the wrong idea I was not sent these as a sponsorship etc. I purchased this three month supply with my own money.

I've been seeing these everywhere due to the fitness models that I follow on Instagram. They also have gorgeous and healthy looking hair. I did a bit of research via google, searching for peoples' personal blog reviews and YouTube channels. It still was hard for me to decide to spend that extra cash for something I'm somewhat sceptical about. But, I eventually convinced myself to do it anyway. A YouTuber put out a really good point. Imagine buying hair serums, moisturisers and heat protectors where the total will cost about $60 that only protects the outside of your hair. Whereas, this vitamin assists the problems from within. Just something that really put it into perspective.

Makeup trial

Hey guys,

What's been hanging? Not much for me lately aside from the fact that I've been sick with possibly a cough and cold in the last two weeks. But I think I've finally recovered some strength...well, I probably never lost it since I was pulling and squatting most of my max weights at the gym. (Yeah, I'm aware that I'm ignorant and very bad ass to my body) But anyway, the point was that I think I'm finally getting a better night's sleep since I am recovering.
On to better news, I finally went and got my makeup trial done! I was über excited because Jenifer was a girl I knew from High School but not only that, we happened to have met a very long time ago when we were young due to my dad being bffs with her uncle. Best coincidence, don't you think? But the reason I was particularly excited was because the previous weekend, she worked on Arianny Celeste! I was so lame into thinking that her hands touched Arianny and she was touching me LOL odd fangirl habits.

The trial was quick and really fun. I was nervous at first because I actually didn't have a real idea of what I wanted. I just wanted to be pretty and glamorous sort of thing. P.S Jenifer kept making me all shy by just asking me to look at her because she is an absolute stunner. She is really fun to work with, talkative and very attentive to your needs. She's kind of starting out as a makeup artist but I do highly recommend her to anyone who will need her service.
My jaw dropped. I've never looked so flawless in my life LOL I've never looked so much like a female! Perfect eyebrows and all. The makeup didn't feel heavy like my regular going out makeup. I didn't feel agitated and disgusted (I usually feel like that when I do my own makeup and have the need to rip it all off). It all felt so light and natural so I was so surprised of how much it managed to cover up all my freckles and flaws. I still cannot get over my perfect eyebrows on fleek hahaha Thank you Jenifer! You did such an incredible job and cannot wait to look this perfect on D-Day!

So, the funny thing was...I didn't even know that I had to go through a makeup trial. You know, there's a crap load of things I didn't know what you had to do in regards to a wedding. Like I previously mentioned, I don't have a dream wedding that I was hoping to create and all. I was just winging this whole thing. But Bach's mother made a point;

"You'll be getting married once in your life, be spoilt, go all out and make the day special because it won't happen again"
It was really sweet and that's true. You only ever aim to get married once, so why not be a little spoilt? Truth is, the money side of thing is on my mind. Given that I'm not even employed and can't make most of my on-call shifts, I can't help but feel that it really puts a strain on Bach. He works hard for the both of us, so I don't want to be some baller at the strip club and make it rain a thousand dollar bills. I'm trying to be efficient and smart about it all. Because after all, I'm an Asian =P

That goes without saying, if I want to pay for absolute quality; don't get me wrong. I will determine if it is worth it. Otherwise I will manage to factor in everything else before I sacrifice quality. I just like to do things on my terms just so it's less stressful for my partner.

 Anyway, over and out!

PS. Jenifer doesn't have her own page or means of contact but you can definitely check out her work on her Instagram. If you're in Melbourne and need some makeup artistry, by all means have a look at Jenifer!

Midnight Secretary | Manga

I seriously feel a little naughty writing about this Manga but excuse the naughty inner-fangirl in me that absolutely loves smut. Smut pretty much means "sexual fiction" for mangas.
But I do recommend that you read the manga Midnight Secretary.
Kaya Satozuka is a brilliant secretary who excels at her job, which is why she doesn't bat an eye when she's assigned to be personal secretary to Kyohei Touma, the very difficult managing director of Touma Foods. It doesn't faze her when her new boss seems determined to make her fail, and she even manages to take it in stride when she discovers the secret behind his prickly behavior…he's a vampire! But while Kaya easily adapts to late nights and keeping a schedule of his "dinner dates", will her ultra-competence help when Kyohei's smoldering gaze starts turning her way?!
Yes. I have an absolute weakness in regards to vampire stories. And yeah, this totally beats Twilight *pokes tongue out* but anyway, there is only seven chapters and I honestly was so hooked that I finished it all in one night.
I completely adored Kaya Satozuka's character. She's a very dedicated yet uptight secretary that works hard and I would say is a perfectionist. She has adorable big round eyes and is very particular about her appearance. She wears a pair of glasses topped off with a tight bun all to remain as professional as she can since she thinks she had a child-like appearance.
While her boss, Kyohei Touma, is a real womanising jerk. He has a constant on-flow of women. But as you delve into the story further you begin to understand why he is like that and grow to love him. However on the plus side; he is tall, dark, handsome with a very dominating personality *fans self* how is that not charming? But yes, that really only works in stories.

There is a lot of sexual content onwards from the end of chapter two, so be warned my dear innocent readers but I guarantee you will like every single moment of it ;)

Anyway, I'm gonna just leave this here and continue finding more smut manga's that are worthy reads. Enjoy!!

Ticking off that list.

It's been quite a while since I've updated anything in regards to my wedding. I really haven't been up to much but slowly and surely, we are ticking things off the list but we still have a long way to go till everything is actually complete.

Just recently, we've kind of publicly announced to our friends that we are, in fact, getting married. The response has been great and it really makes me look forward to the event even more! I've had friends message me, asking me if I needed help and advice which is definitely appreciated since I am literally rolling with the ball!
We've booked in our photographer for the day. I'm really happy and satisfied with it because Tony Pham is a really cool, laid-back and friendly guy and I think he would get along really well with my bridal party. Not to mention, he pretty much offers a decent package deal that suits our needs. We personally booked him because he also offered a Photo Booth service AND Guest Photo printouts on the spot. It's a Vietnamese tradition that we take a photo with all the guests and what better way than to have it printed out on the spot for you!
I've also gotten my second dress ordered along with some jewellery and gloves. It's a bit nerve-wrecking because of the particular style I chose and I went based off the measurements so hopefully it turns out okay and that it fits well so I don't look like a potato. I've received it however I had a problem fitting into it due to my body shape and my booty. So I had it sent back to be altered and hopefully it turns out to be a much better fit!
My wedding shoes!
I have also chosen my make-up artist and hair stylist. She happens to be a girl that I went to high school with and her work is amazing. Definitely check out Jenifer In's work via her Instagram. I will be going for a trial with her some time next week and will upload the before and after! I'm thoroughly excited!

I'm slowly getting excited though. My dear friend, Julie, is helping us with the design side of things (as you can see the illustration above) and she's helped us get a kickstart in everything in the design department. I honestly am so grateful for her help and she really makes me über excited about my own wedding. I was literally going to just wing everything but with her keen eye for design, I'm looking forward to the outcome of things!

I just have a few more things to organise. I need an ao dai, decorations, all the suits for the boys and of course the bridesmaid shoes before we slowly kick the ball down the hill. I'm so surprised that there is about 5.5 months left till d-day! I really need to get my butt moving with things!!
P.S. I just created these hangers last night for us and the bridal party. Are they not cute?

Quarter of a century

So, I'd been on such a hiatus from my blog that I forgot to mention that I recently turned 25 years old.  Well, actually I turned 25 like two whole months ago. I've just been a bit busy here and there and neglected my blog completely.
But, my birthday did fall on the Easter weekend this year and we had plans to go up to Lakes Entrance with my brother and the girls for some relaxation and fishing. Except the fishing for us was really rushed and we each caught one undersized fish.
Nothing makes me happier to see him so playful with children!!

Unfortunately for Bach and I, we only got to spend a night up at Lakes Entrance as we had to rush back to Melbourne for Jeff and Phany's wedding. Ironically, it was on my own birthday!! But I didn't care. It was seriously a really fun occasion and it was great to see some friends. Oh and who could ever forget dressing up?
Congrats to the newly weds, Jeffrey & Phany!
The funniest thing I recall about this couple is that; I went to Primary school (Elementary) with Phany and Bach had met Jeff during their University (College) days. I just found it ironic and that it is such a small world! But I couldn't be happier for these two!
Our friends Duc & Julie who will also be tying the knot next year! I definitely look forward to their beautiful wedding ^^
We had a little bit of Photo Booth fun...I'm surprised I could carry Bach in a pair of heels LOL
It was so hectic that I didn't get any time to reflect on my own birthday. But, as long as I got to spend it with my family and Bach, I couldn't have been any happier.

Wishing Well

Hello all,

I'm not sure if you guys are familiar with Asian weddings. But instead of typically receiving gifts, we Asians actually prefer receiving money. Before you jump to conclusions about us being mega cheap tight-arses. That's really not the case. Everyone knows that weddings pretty much cost you an entire house deposit (well, in Australia, yes $20-50k is a house deposit). Not everyone has the amount lying underneath their pillows or some secret compartment.
So, the sole reason we prefer money over gifts is that your share in the money pretty much will assist the newly wedded couple in paying for their special day. The Asians pretty much call this an investment. For example: Your family friend's daughter is getting married. You're invited. You go and pay your share. In return, your son gets married, they will return the favour when you invite them. Its that simple really.

Anyway, the point of this post was that I have finally purchased my wishing well for the wedding!
I was originally planning to get a wishing well that looked like an actual wishing well (above image). But I thought that it was a little too much and given that I will only be using it once, I'd get something a bit smaller but fitting enough for at least 400 envelopes. So, behold!

How adorable is it?! This was the ONLY box available there that wasn't a solid colour. They only sell a solid white, Tiffany blue or pink. I was lucky enough to get my hands on this and for only $40 too. The only issue I have that it's plain, but nothing my dear from Julie can't help with. Will show you guys what the end product will turn out to be.

Just in case you're wondering, I purchased this from Wedding Wish in Dingley. They have an eBay store but because I'm literally five minutes away from the suburb, I went into their store to have a browse myself. Definitely check them out! They have a bunch of wonderful wishing wells on display and the staff are very friendly.

Peninsula Hot Springs

Last Sunday, I got the privilege to be invited by one of my girlfriends to go and chill out at the Peninsula Hot Springs. This would be my second visit to the springs and this time we were bathing around in the private bathing area as opposed to the public bathing. I actually quite enjoyed it although, it was rather small...a lot smaller than the public side. There were only about six accessible baths (including the cold plunge), so it was quite small but I liked the fact that it was quiet.
My girlfriend decided that she wanted to treat me out for an early birthday present since I will be flat our busy with an Easter fishing trip and a wedding. Yes, a wedding on my own birthday!! But, I'm rather excited for the couple! Anyway, I was more excited about actually wearing a swimsuit since I haven't been able to touch any of my for the entire summer here.
I felt like after all this gym training and being ill the last week, I think the hot springs was definitely something I needed to rejuvenate my body. We got served lunch and just hit the springs to relax and chat right after. God knows what we even talked about but, I've been friends with Sok for over a decade that I'm practically her adopted sister (according to her mother LOL).

Thank you Sok, for the lovely birthday surprise and such a relaxing Sunday. My body definitely thanks you for it!

Bridesmaids down!

I'm so thrilled. I woke up on Wednesday morning and I was sent an email by Chi Chi London about a dress I had been eyeing for my bridesmaids. I had been eyeing it for possibly a month or pretty much since we'd been talking about getting married this year. I caught a glimpse of the gorgeous dress from ASOS and was just convinced that I had to have it for the girls. It was "out of stock" for quite some time and I was getting quite anxious because, well, it was both out of stock and on sale. So I had thought that perhaps it was going to be discontinued.

I had already shown the girls the dress and they absolutely loved it. I was worried it was going to be discontinued so I scoured the internet for more alternative dresses but nothing really struck me and I felt like I was just choosing stuff out of desperation. But being a little hopeful since the site said that it was to be "released on 27th March", I had placed my email to be notified if it were to restock.
Then voila, I got an email. I seriously jumped the gun, shoved two of the dresses into my cart and went searching for a coupon code (because I'm a typical Asian, if I can source it cheaper then I will!) And you guessed it. With the quick permission from the partner, I purchased them and by midnight in Melbourne, they had already been despatched!

I'm beyond happy!! Hopefully the sizing is just right. It's funny you should say, because both of my bridesmaids and I are basically the same size. Although, they look to be more tinier than I am. I'm just a little too tank from all the weightlifting haha.

Eeeeeeee~ time is ticking and I still haven't done anything too productive!

You can find the dress here: Chi Chi London Rosie Dress

UPDATE: 13 April, 2015

I forgot to update that the bridesmaid dresses arrived and I was absolutely thrilled!! They were sent in a regular parcel but I did receive the parcel within a week from when they sent it. So I'm definitely happy about that!
ARE THEY NOT THE CUTEST PINK DRESSES?! I was actually extremely worried at how pale these dresses may have been, given the different images from different websites I had seen but they are definitely a visible pink!
They were supposed to be knee-length dresses, they are a little longer than that. Given that I'm 5'2 and so is one of my bridesmaids LOL it will make they look a little short. I am considering to have the hem tailored but if the girls are happy as it is, then no dramas!

Overall, I am very pleased with the quality of the dresses, the shipping and sizing. Colour is perfect and I just cannot deal with how cute it is!

Purchase from Light In The Box

I'm still in shock that I will be getting married in less than 8 months. I honestly have not planned much at all. I still don't really know what I want but I'm glad that I have some girlfriends who are taking the time to help me out.

My dear girlfriend, Julie's Little World, is kind enough to help me with the design side of things and she makes me rather giddy and excited! I can't wait to see what the invitations will end up looking like with her little added quirky touches...since she personally knows both my partner and I.

Recently I ordered and received a package from Light In The Box. They had a sale going on and jumped the gun whilst ordering my bomboniere boxes. I had a hard time choosing which ones I wanted but with the help and suggesting from Yuka, I chose the Enchanted Carriage box. I am seriously over the moon about them!!
How freaking cute are they? I am thoroughly pleased with the quality and the fact that I managed to snag 500 of these for about $80AUD (not including shipping). They're quite easy to assemble yet I'm just dreading making them all haha.
I also purchased this crystal tiara. Scored it for under $10AUD. Though a bit smaller than I originally thought but still of decent and shining quality. Not bad for a bargain.

So far, I'm quite pleased with my purchase from Light In The Box. I was a little sceptical due to online reviews but, those were mostly for their clothing and horrible customer service (which I completely understand because they are a company based in China). But for the general side of things, like these bomboniere boxes and they are pretty good and I would definitely recommend purchasing from them!

Hope this helps any to-be brides!

Arnold Classic Australia

I honestly didn't know what to expect. Supplement expos, free giveaways, and endless lines for photos and free stuff. There were the occasional hunky arms and yummy chocolate abs lurking around. In all honesty, I was kinda just there to see and meet the fit women I admired. No homo. But the guys and free stuff were definitely a plus side to things.
Getting touchy-touchy with Andreia Brazier
It feels so surreal that just a week ago I attended the first ever Arnold Classic in Australia. I was actually quite proud that they hosted the event down here in my city, Melbourne!! I was rather excited all week because a few of the fitness models that I followed and idolised were going to be present.

So...rather than tediously explaining about my day being all about lines and scoring free stuff, I'm just gonna show you my photos.

Japanese Proverb - Don't give up

  • 七転び八起き
    • Nanakorobi yaoki
    • Literally: Fall seven times and stand up eight
    • Meaning: When life knocks you down, stand back up / Keep trying
-Courtesy of Wikipedia

You may have seen or heard this proverb some time in your life. It's currently my favourite quote to go by because it doesn't matter which path you are walking, it will always be relatable to you.

It holds a strong meaning to me because you shouldn't give up. Keep persisting till you get it right. I used to give up so easily, believe everything was impossible because I was just lazy and afraid of everything. It was until I started getting shit done for myself and realised how closed-minded I had been all along.

It doesn't happen overnight. Don't expect miracles. You need to work for it, earn it. Why do you think that when you were little, your parents would make you do things and the result was getting a reward? It's a very simple life lesson, to which some do take for granted.

So, no matter how many times life knocks you down. No matter how bad shit gets. Stand up, dust yourself off and try again. No matter how many times you fall, its better knowing that you tried than wallowing in your "what if" box.
